Divisional Director of Legacy

Job Summary


Plans, coordinates, evaluates and monitors all functions of the Legacy Department.? Supervises the day-to-day operations, including the preparation of legal documents, performs legal research, reads and interprets legal documents; communicates with attorneys and other professionals; responds to inquiries from corps, Territorial Headquarters, Divisional Headquarters officers and employees and outside sources regarding estates and trusts, interpretation of Territorial minutes, legal documents, contracts or other documents regarding use of allocation of funds; researches and analyzes files and correspondence for Divisional Finance Board? review, approval and recommendation; processes legal documents to and from the Territorial Legal Secretary, attorneys and the corps. Ensures the Division?s legacy procedures comply with the Florida Statutes and Salvation Army regulations. Regularly serves as corporate representative at mediations on probate litigation or other cases as needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


Knowledge of legal terminology and procedures. Knowledge of trust and estate laws of the state of Florida.


Knowledge of effective principles and practices of supervision. Knowledge of effective and efficient recordkeeping practices and procedures. Knowledge of the English language including proper grammar and punctuation. Knowledge of basic mathematics, accounting or bookkeeping practices and procedures. Knowledge of accepted practices and techniques that are involved in budget and report preparation and/or recordkeeping. Ability to gather, compile, and assemble information into a final product for correspondence, records, reports, etc. Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work to accomplish work in compliance with quality standards and deadlines.? Ability to apply discretion and independent judgment with limited supervision. Ability to work well under deadline pressures. Ability to prepare spreadsheets. Ability to maintain an efficient and organized filing system to ensure items can be retrieved in a timely manner. Ability to build and maintain effective and professional relationships with employees at Territorial Headquarters and throughout the Southern Territory. Ability to build and maintain effective and professional relationships with attorneys and trust officers. Ability to travel throughout the Division to conduct department training. Ability to maintain the confidential nature of the department. Ability to read and interpret wide variety of legal documents and interact with attorneys; Ability to understand basic probate and trust administration procedures in line with Florida Statutes; Ability to meet attendance requirements. Education and Experience


Bachelor?s degree in paralegal studies or related degree and three to five years progressively responsible experience performing paralegal duties in an office environment, preferably estate and trust administration, with at least two years management experience or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Ability to effectively and efficiently work on multiple projects at the same time without becoming frustrated or disorganized. Ability to sort and file documents alphabetically and numerically. Ability to key information into a computer. Ability to use and maintain electronic file system. Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
